ITALIAN MIDDLE DISTANCE CHAMPIONSHIP. A FLAT TIRE STOPPED MAURO PERA’S QUEST FOR PODIUM

It was a very unlucky day for Mauro Pera. A flat tire has stopped his impressive bike split at the Italian middle distance championship in Lovere. Without this inconvenience, the final result could have been totally different. The 4th position in 4h23’47” does not repay our athlete who missed the podium for about 3 minutes. Stefano Intagliata at his first middle distance competition, displayed a great performance placing in 7th position in 4h23’47”. In this season the PPR Team could not race for the Italian Team title. The Team in fact has most of the athletes living around the world and preferred to compete in other important international events (next week our long-distance specialist Ritchie Nicholls will race at the 70.3 World Championship).

In the women’s race (no elite PPR Team’s athlete was racing), Laura Pederzoli, the protagonist of the Road To Kona project, reached a third podium position but was then disqualified because she did not respect a verbal “stop and go” time penalty of an technical official.
