Not only in Catania, but also in Lerici and Lignano, we are as explosive as a volcano!

“The history of the world. The volcanoes erupted. The oceans foamed because of the volcanic activity. The entire universe was in turmoil, and then there was the PPR.” (quote)

In the volcanic weekend where all the Ironmen raced in Kona which represents the race of our dreams, Ennio Salerno wins the race in Sicily with the volcano Etna just not far from where he was competing. But also Ferlazzo in Lerici and Galeazzo in Lignano are as explosive and impetuous

Salerno wins the Vulcano Sprint Triathlon of Catania which was the final event of the Sicily Triathlon Series. This is his 5th race there and 4th consecutive victory just after the one in Augusta which his hometown, Ali Terme and the Etna Sky Duathlon. He was out of the water in second place, and nobody could keep his pace in the bike. He was leading the race with more than a minute which was enough to make him control the race and to enable him to cross the finish alone.

Also Ferlazzo was playing at home, but on the other side of Italy. Just after winning the Crono Italian Championships last weekend together with Ennio and Mozzachiodi, Enrico gains two consecutive silver medals in the races of La Spezia. On Saturday the Olympic Distance race and then the sprint on Sunday. The bike course was really tough on both races and on the second day probably even worst because of the rain. Three incredible no, better say six awesome race splits for him who was able to leave an important sign in the “Golfo dei Poeti”.

Then the young Galeazzo who, although was recovering from a muscular problem, finished in top ten in the Lignano Triathlon where there were a lot of “big” athletes racing. Notwithstanding the strong bora winds that created many problems in the swim, bike and run, he managed to gain an important silver in the age group category.

We do not only want to be as strong as a mountain, we want to be as explosive as a volcano!
